The South Asian Network for Development and Environmental Economics (SANDEE) seeks to strengthen individual and institutional capacity to undertake research on the linkages between economic development and environmental change. SANDEE supports research that uses economic analyses to address environmental and natural resource problems1 to influence policy-making.
SANDEE organized a Policy Research and Proposal Writing Workshop in Environmental Economics in Dhaka, April 12-15, 2003. The main objective of this workshop was to introduce economists to key policy concerns in environmental economics and to enable participants to develop the skills required to write serious research proposals on these issues. The workshop provided the participants training in logical thinking and research proposal writing and presentation skills. It also provided technical input and comments on research concepts, and forged links between environmental economists working in various capacities. It introduced serious researchers in environmental and natural resource economics to SANDEE and its research activities and encouraged participants to submit a research proposal to SANDEE in future.
