Prof. Partha Dasgupta
Cambridge University, UK
Sir Dasgupta is a renowned scholar
with numerous contributions to a variety of sub
fields in economics. He is Frank Ramsey Professor
of Economics at the University of Cambridge, and
also a Fellow of St. John’s College, Cambridge.
He has served as Chairman of the Faculty of Economics
and Politics, University of Cambridge since 1997.
Prof. Dasgupta jointly with Prof. Karl-Göran
Mäler, was awarded the prestigious Volvo
Environment Award in 2002 for his outstanding
and pioneering contribution to environmental and
resource economics. He is a member of the External
Advisory Council of the World Bank Institute,
Washington, DC; Member-at-Large of the Advisory
Board of the Millennium Commission, and Member
of the External Advisory Board of the Earth Institute,
Columbia University, New York. |

Ms. Oltorp works for the Swedish

She manages several research networks on environment
and development economics. |

| Dr.
A. K. Enamul Haque
United International University, Bangladesh
Professor of Economics is at
the United International University in Dhaka,
Bangladesh. He has been teaching environmental
and resource economics since 1992. Besides teaching,
Dr Haque has contributed to several high level
committees in the Ministry of Environment and
Forests, Bangladesh. His research fields include
soil erosion, impact of agricultural land degradation,
health costs and institutions related to drinking
water contamination with arsenic. He has been
also a consultant to the World Bank, Dhaka, GTZ,Dhaka,
IUCN Bangladesh and is a member of the SANDEE
management and advisory committee. He is now advising
the Government of Bangladesh as a member of its
Technical Committee on mitigation due to climate
change. He is a life member of Bangladesh Economic
Association. Dr Haque completed his PhD degree
from the University of Guelph Canada in 1991. |

David Glover
IDRC, Canada
Dr. Glover is Program Leader
for Environmental Economics at Canada's International
Development Research Centre (IDRC). From 1993
to 2006, Dr. Glover was the founding Director
of the Economy and Environment Program for Southeast
Asia, which supports training and research in
environmental economics in ten Asian countries.
Previously, Dr. Glover was Director of the Economic
Policy Program of IDRC, where he developed several
multi-country and multi-donor research networks.
He holds a PhD in Political Economy, and has written
or edited some thirty books and articles dealing
with environment, agricultural policy, trade and
structural adjustment. |

Nikkat
Sattar
IUCN
Ms. Sattar is Head, Country
Group 2 (Nepal and Pakistan) with responsibility
to develop IUCN programme in Bhutan and Afghanistan.
Ms. Sattar provides overall management to IUCN's
interactions with members, governments, NGOs,
donors and other development agencies in the Group.
Previously, she has held several other key positions
in both IUCN Asia and in Pakistan. As Head, Regional
Emerging Programmes, she has made significant
contributions towards enhancing IUCN's vision
and mission in Asia.

Dr.
Priya Shyamsundar
Program Director, SANDEE
Dr. Shyamsundar is Program
Director for the South Asian Network for Development
and Environmental Economics (SANDEE). As part
of its various activities, SANDEE has supported
over 60 research projects in the area of
poverty and natural resource management, valuation
of non-market goods, and the economics of pollution
management. Priya previously served as a consultant
for many years to the Environment Department of
the World Bank. Most recently, she led a team
that was responsible for a new World Bank book
on poverty and environment. Prior to her work
with SANDEE and the Bank, Priya served as Senior
Program Officer for the John D. and Catherine
T. MacArthur Foundation and as Research Associate
at the Institute of Social Studies Trust. Priya's
research interests range over a number of topics
within environment and development economics.
She has a Ph.D. in Environmental Economics from
Duke University.

Shanta Devarajan
The World Bank, Washington
Dr. Devarajan is the Chief Economist
of the World Bank’s Africa region, and Editor
of the World Bank Research Observer. In previous
years, he has been the Director of the World Development
Report 2004, Making Services Work for Poor People
and Chief Economist for the South Asia region
as well as the Chief Economist of the Human Development
Network. Before 1991, he was on the faculty of
Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School
of Government. The author or co-author of over
100 publications, Dr. Devarajan’s research
covers public economics, trade policy, natural
resources and the environment, and general-equilibrium
modeling of developing countries. Born in Sri
Lanka, Dr. Devarajan received his A. B. in mathematics
from Princeton University and his Ph. D. in economics
from the University of California at Berkeley. |

Dr. Alagh is currently
Chairman IRMA, Chancellor, Nagaland University
and Vice Chairman of the Sardar Patel Institute
of Economic and Social Research, Ahmedabad. He
is a Trustee of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and
an independent Director of Tata Chemicals and
Shri Cements. He was earlier Minister of Power
and for Planning & Programme Implementation
with additional charge of the Ministry of Science
& Technology. He has been Member, Planning
Commission (in the rank of Minister of State)
and was Chairman, Bureau of Industrial Costs and
Prices, Ministry of Industry and Secretary to
the Government of India. He was Member of the
Council, United Nations University and also Chairman,
Scientific Steering Committee of the International
Social Science Programme of UNESCO. He was Vice
Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru University and was
Senior Fellow, World Institute of Development
Economic Research, United Nations University,
Helsinki. He has been Senior Adviser and Consultant
to FAO, UNFPA, ILO, ESCAP World Bank and UNDP.
He holds a Doctoral Degree in Economics from the
University of Pennsylvania and Master’s
Degree from the same University and the University
of Rajasthan. He has seven books and over a hundred
articles to his credit published both at home
and abroad. He was awarded the VKRV Rao Award
in Economics for 1981.
