M.N. Murthy specializes in Public Economics and Environmental & Resource Economics. He has been a visiting scholar at numerous institutions like the Institute of Developing Economies, Tokyo, University of Birmingham, UK, and the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, New Delhi. He currently is a Consultant with the Institute of Economic Growth, New Delhi, where he was a Professor till his recent retirement. He has earlier been a Consultant to agencies like the World Bank, International Crop Research Institute (ICRISAT), ESCAP, Bangkok, and The Energy Research Institute (TERI), Delhi. He has published 7 books and over 40 articles in professional journals and volumes.
