1.       Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment

The Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment is a Government based research and training institute. The institute strive to foster better stewardship of our natural heritage - land, water, air and species therein - through rigorous science based research and transmission of cutting-edge science results to field practitioners, environmental leaders and policy makers. 

 

2.       Conservation Strategy Fund(CSF)
Conservation Strategy Fund uses economics and strategic thinking to help conserve natural ecosystems around the globe. The foundation of the Funds work is teaching local conservationists how to use economics to succeed. Their training program helps create and strengthen parks, influence policies, craft sustainable development paths and avert damage from major road and dam projects. CSF was founded in 1998 and has offices in Brazil and the United States.

3.       Environmental Valuation Reference Inventory (EVRI)
EVRI is a comprehensive storehouse of over 2,000 international studies providing values, methodologies, techniques and theories on environmental valuation. This Canadian-run resource facilitates the worldwide development and promotion of environmental valuation using the benefits transfer approach. 4.       Sustainable Development Policy Institute(SDPI) 
A non- profit organization based in Pakistan. A good source for empirical and policy related information about environmental issues in Pakistan.

5.       Center for Environmental Economics and Policy in Africa (CEEPA) 
The Environmental Economics programme of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension and Rural Development was in 2001 converted to a centre in 2001 and is now known as the Centre for Environmental Economics and Policy in Africa (CEEPA) located within the Department of Agricultural economics, Extension and Rural Development at the University of Pretoria.

6.       International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD)

7.       Nepal Study Center (NSC) at the University of New Mexico (UNM)
is dedicated to fostering intellectual collaboration and sharing knowledge with a dedicated focus and wider perspective on the socio-economic development and sustainability, health, technology transfer, and environmental issues of the Himalayan region and the countries in South Asia.

9.       SHODH: the Institute for Research and Development, Nagpur, India 
The Institute for research and development - SHODH started working informally from the year 1994, and was formally registered in 1997. The group of like-minded people founded SHODH to undertake research projects for studying socio-economic aspects of rural and tribal population, to study various aspects of environmental degradation and restoration of ecological balance, to undertake programs for all-round development of rural and tribal areas, to conduct training programs for teachers and students from such areas, to strive and help in efforts for emancipation of women, and child development.

10.   Bangladesh Institute for Development Studies(BIDS)
A multi-disciplinary organization which conducts policy oriented research on development issues mainly in the context of Bangladesh. Useful site for identifying recent research papers on economics issues in Bangladesh.

11.   Centre for Social And Economic Research on the Global Environment (CSERGE)

This Centre's interdisciplinary program is based around a number of research areas such as climate change, conservation of biological diversity, institutional adaptation to environmental change, sustainable development, natural resource valuation and management, waste management and recycling, economic instruments and water/wetlands/ coastal zone management.

The principle aim of this institution is to promote interaction between academic, industrial and public spheres in order to comprehensively address concerns about economic development and environmental change. 13.   IUCN Nepal 
IUCN - The World Conservation Union, Nepal began work in Nepal in the 1960s, assisting early government efforts to protect environmentally sensitive areas and wildlife. Nepal became a State Member of IUCN in 1973 with the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC) as the active link. In the 1980s, IUCN supported the Nepal government in formulating a National Conservation Strategy (NCS) to address the country's major environment and development issues.

15.   International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) 
International Institute for Environment & Development is an independent, non-profit organization promoting sustainable patterns of world development through collaborative research, policy studies, networking and knowledge dissemination. We work to address global issues, for example; mining, the paper industry and food systems. Over the last thirty years IIED has earned a world-wide reputation and was the first recipient of the Blue Planet Prize (1992) for outstanding contributions to environmental policy and action.

National Center for Environmental Economics (NCEE) analyzes relationships between the economy, environmental health, and environmental pollution control. It also serves as a central point of contact for communicating and resolving cross-cutting technical economic issues.

The Bank's mission includes a requirement for sustainable development, which makes the environment an integral part of the development challenge. This demands that special attention must be paid to how the environment links poverty, economics, and people. 24.   Indian Society for Ecological Economics (INSEE) 
The (INSEE) is a regional chapter affiliated to the International Society for Ecological Economics (ISEE) which aims to further the cause of sustainable development by providing a forum for continuous dialogue among scholars, practitioners and policy analysts working on different aspects of environment and ecology. 25.   Tata Energy Research Institute (TERI) 
The Energy and Research Institute (TERI) is a dynamic and flexible organization with a global vision and a local focus which was established in 1974.
