FORMAT for Concept Notes
(4 pages including cover page. Longer concept notes will not be entertained)

1. Cover Sheet (1 page)
A cover letter indicating how such a course will be useful in teaching and research activities.

2. Project Description (3 pages)
(A three page concept note for a research proposal in environmental economics. The note should include: a discussion on the research problem and its policy relevance, the research question(s) and objectives, a short literature review that identifies key peer reviewed journal articles related to the proposed research, an underlying analytical framework, empirical methods (data requirement, collection and analysis) and expected outcomes). It should include:

  • Study Title, Institutional Detail
  • Research Problem. Provide a clear and simple description of your research problem.
  • Policy Context. Describe how your research would inform specific management or policy reforms.
  • Objectives. Identify overall study goals and specific research objectives.
  • Literature Review. Please restrict your review to literature most pertinent to the study
  • Hypotheses/research questions to be tested or answered
  • Description of the study site, if any
  • Methods for data collection and analyses (1/2 - 1 page). This section needs to follow from and be tied to the identified hypotheses.
  • Conclusions including expected results and potential policy implications

3.  A brief CV (no more than one page)
The CV should indicate professional responsibilities/activities, (please include current job and institutional details), educational qualifications, (highest degree/ institution), age and two most important research publications, if any.
